Cucamonga Valley Medical Group ‘Back to School Clinics’ help families make transition

August 17 event is open to public; offers immunizations, sports physicals

Heading back to school after a fun summer vacation can be both an exciting and hectic time for students and their families.

Cucamonga Valley Medical Group (CVMG) hopes to make the return to the classroom more stress free through its “Back to School Clinics.” The initial clinic held on July 27 was a success. The second clinic will be held on Saturday, August 17 at CVMG’s Fontana location, 16465 Sierra Lakes Parkway, Suite 300.

The clinic is open to the public. You do not have to be a current CVMG patient. Cost is $10 per child and no insurance is needed. Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome.

“So much fun,” said Karen Perez, a member of the CVMG front office, referring to the July 27 clinic. “The patient reaction was incredible. For this being CVMG’s first back to school clinic it was definitely a success. I cannot wait for August 17 to arrive.”

The CVMG team will offer back-to-school immunizations and sports physicals for school-aged children (up to age 18). People are encouraged to bring any paperwork necessary for verification of immunizations or physicals.

“It was so much fun getting our patients and community vaccinated for our back to school campaign,” said Gisel Salcedo, QI Coordinator at CVMG, of the first clinic.

“The Rancho Quakes’ Aftershock came by to hang out and get his yearly physical done as well,” Salcedo said, referring to an appearance by the minor league baseball team’s popular mascot. “I’m glad we were able to get our kids ready and healthy for school and sports.”

The clinic also will provide people an opportunity to join the CVMG family as a new patient and schedule appointments. Response to the initial clinic, also held in Fontana, was positive.

“I’m so glad it was on a Saturday, I didn’t have to take a day off work,” one participant in the July 27 clinic said. “It’s hard to ever get all three of my kids scheduled at the same time. This worked great.”

“I’ve been meaning to bring my child in for a new visit, and having this was a great opportunity to get him established,” added another attendee.
