CVMG Physician Assistant Shares Her Own Journey to ‘Transformation’
When Tricia Borchers discusses healthy lifestyle habits with patients at Cucamonga Valley Medical Group, she provides a perspective of someone who “talks the talk and walks the walk.”
A Certified Physician Assistant at CVMG, Borchers has taken her own journey to a healthier life, changing her diet and exercise habits, catching up on sleep and doing her best to reduce stress while losing 30 pounds and taking on a positive mental approach.
“Personally, I went through this transformation,” said Borchers, who will celebrate her fifth-year anniversary as part of the CVMG team in October. “I lost 30 pounds and made exercise and eating good a part of my lifestyle. I slept better. I felt better about myself. Mentally, you can do so much more when you’re physically fit.”
Her family background also prompted Borchers to revisit her lifestyle choices.
“My grandmother had diabetes. She passed away from what they call a silent heart attack,” Borchers said. “That is something that makes you look at life differently. Plus, there are a lot of medical problems people have based on their lifestyles. These are some of the things that eventually led to my decision to enter the medical field.”
Living a healthier lifestyle can help us all to have the best quality of life possible, and it can be easier than you think. Eating a balanced diet, getting enough sleep, and incorporating exercise, stress relief, and faith-based activities into your daily routine are all important aspects of a healthy lifestyle, Borchers said.
“Having a team to support you and trust you is key, and with the right tools, you can start to make a difference in your life,” she said. “With diet and exercise, we can improve our physical health and mental well-being. We can also help to reduce the risk of developing medical issues such as diabetes, stroke, and depression.
“Getting enough sleep is essential for our bodies to function properly, and taking the time to practice stress relief can help us to stay calm and in control. Finally, faith-based activities can provide us with spiritual and emotional support, helping us to stay grounded and focused on our goals.”
